BANBOGI Studio
Research and preservation of old manual practices. A dialogue between the past and the present, between France and Korea; built around neutrals and earth shades, natural and innovative materials.
Banbogi is an old chinese-korean term (半途相会) which symbolizes "meeting at the midpoint". It can also be translated literally by Ban as "half" and Bogi as "seeing".
During the korean dynastic Kingdom of Joseon (1392-1897), married women couldn't visit their own family because they had become a member of their husband's family and had to take care of their in-laws. Women's outing was not free.
The act of banbogi could be a briefly and warmhearted meeting of two persons, at a point exactly midway between their homes. That's what I wanted to share with you. Something comforting between you and me.
